In planning the Conference, we felt that we needed to know how we came to be here in the present. Boone Schirmer, who is around his mid 60's, is basically the mentor of every Filipino Speaker/Activist in the nation. He started the "Friends of the Filipino People". Without him, Harvard Philippine Forum would not have been founded and FIND as we know it probably would not exist.
The Harvard Conference was just to show a different topic than the usual unity and future themes. We considered the fact that people will attend more than 3 FIND's in their college careers, so there will always be one you like and dislike. We also did not see mandatory attendance as a problem because it was a way for us to get actual responses to the workshops and we knew that delegates would GO to the workshops, so theres no need to feel uncomfortable.
